Bogota (and heading to costa rica)

in

I left Merida by bus and traveled in the zomg-don't-go-there-you-will-die zone between venezuela and colombia, without issue.

Once in Cucuta Colombia, i was scammed for close to 100k pesos; but whatdya gonna do. Took a 16 hour bus ride from Cucuta to Bogota, and spend a week being a very lazy traveler.

my aprehension of spanish is slower going than i had hoped. argely due to not studying hard for a week or so

two chicas.. claire from cottland and carolin from germany.. imposed a social life onto mu otherwise hermit self. we went dancing and met locals and booked a trip to catatumbo.. basically the only wonder i really wanted to see in vzla.

In Merida

A little lazy and tired to go into great detail.

I was supposed to have a ~7 hour layover in caracas; which ended up being more like 11 hours. I befriended a couple nice ladies which was really fortunate. After our flight time came and went; they announced something (which I couldn't understand) and half the people got up and moved to another gate.

In Caracas at the airport

Alive and well. Despite all the travel warnings and stories of sketchy boarder guards everything was really smooth for me coming into Venezuela. Passed through immigration quickly; got a bit of a pause on my passport which was half eaten a couple years ago by my mother's 300 year old dachsund. She just rubbed it I think to check if the laminate would seperate, which it didn't.. and let me on my way.

to anyone wondering where the responses to their emails are, i am sorry. i have found it impossible to get wireless access for my laptop. i outsecured myself from my gmail and my attempt at an alternative with hushmail did not work. the kindle browser does not play nicely.

Leaving florida

in

Been in florida for a couple weeks. Spent some really nice time with Sam.

I will be in Aruba for a couple days, then take a bunch of short flights:

Aruba->Curacao->Caracas->El Vigia Airport

From El Vigia it's an hour or so Taxi to Merida; I will be there for ~1 month.
