Hard Drive Click of Death Fix

My buddy had a laptop die, seems his mother board was fried one way or another.. I got a usb enclosure for the hard drive so he could have his data, at first it mounted fine, then it suddenly stopped. At first I thought it was the enclosure (or hoped it was) but upon some testing realized the hard drive was doing the horrible click of death.

Basically it just clicked and clicked instead of ever spinning. I read on some obscure blog post that someone had luck tapping the hard drive when it was clicking, and timing my 'taps' to go with the click I eventually got it to start spinning again. Not sure how long the drive will last but the data is off and that's what is important.

What I did was just tap the top of the drive as it clicked, it took about 5 taps and the thing started spinning.
